am i jumping to conclusions??? -regarding cancer-?

Okay,so I have some symptoms of colon cancer but they are also symptoms of general constipation. I have blood once in a while and my stools are very thin but I dont know if Id say they’re flat(and i hear colon cancer is flat stool) because they are round just really really skinny.

The symptoms I have are some fullness in my stomach area, constipation, skinny stool(not flat though), and had blood appear just twice so far.

Okay,so I went on a government (.gov) website for health and it is old statistics, but it said that 1.1% of people between ages 20 and 34 have colon cancer.

I’m 22. I’m young, I eat healthy most times, but last week I ate the candy store. I literally ate so much junk food it was insane, but after that I had a salad every day, but now I get this constipation..

After I ate about 4 days ago, I exercised immediately.. and after I exercised my stomach hurt like crazy, so maybe I disrupted my bowels??

Does this sound like It’s just constipation or colon cancer? Someone on a forum online said they had colon cancer at age 30 but do you think I’m unlucky enough to be one of the very few people who get it(1%)?

I have no one in my family who has had colon cancer, I do not drink, I do not smoke, I do not feel dizzy or sick to my stomach, I do not feel tired(I’m super hyper always), and I do not have pain in my stomach only discomfort.

PLEASE HELP THANKS

Colon Cancer: Myths and Facts

Colorectal cancer, often referred to as colon cancer, is the second leading cancer killer among men and women in the US According to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, it is largely preventable with regular screening, and is curable with early detection. Each year more than 150000 people are diagnosed with colon cancer in the US and over 50000 people die from it annually. This video explores some myths about colon cancer and the facts you need to know.

Statistics question………Please help!?

Fruits and vegetables are rich in “antioxidants” such as vitamins A, C, and E. Will taking antioxidants help prevent colon cancer? A medical experiment studied this question with 864 pple who were at risk of colon cancer. The subjects were divided into four groups: daily beta-carotene, daily vitamins C and E, all three vitamins every day, or daily placebo. After four years, the researchers were surprised to find no significant difference in colon cancer among the groups.

a) what are the explanatory and response variables in this experiment?
b) The study was double-blind. what does this mean?
c) What does “no significant difference” mean in describing the outcome of the study?
d) Suggest some lurking variables that could explain why pple who eat lots of fruits and vegetables have lower rates of colon cancer. The experiment suggests that these variables, rather than the antioxidants, may be responsible for the observed benefits of fruits and vegetables.

Colon Cancer Statistics

In this video, Hans Rosling shows that cancer in the large intestine, ie colon, gets more common when countries get richer. The data is compiled by IARC ( International Agency for research on Cancer) in Lyon, France. It reveals that colon cancer is equally common in men and women, that eat similar diets, in high-income countries. Prevention through promotion of health diet have not yet had any big effect but advanced screening programs and improved treatment have decreased the death rate among colon cancer patients in high-income countries. It is paradoxical that high-income leads to a diet that cause this cancer while at the same time only high-income can support a health service that can cure it. Effective prevention could avoid a lot of suffering and save money for health services. is.gd – New cases of colon cancer per 100 000 men (with size showing size of population)

Does anyone know where I can find detailed age prevalency statistics for colon cancer?

I am a 25 year old male and have an appointment with a GI Doc next Thursday. I have had a few symptoms that are consistent with colon cancer. I am aware that CC in someone my age is rare … with 90% of cases happening in individuals over age 50 and only 3% occuring in those under 40. However, for some peace of mind while I wait for my appointment, can anyone point me towards fairly detailed age statistics on colon cancer. Particularly, I am interested in finding out more about the likelihood of at 25 year old male with no family history developing colon cancer.

thanks
