Bob Monkhouse (Genius) – Prostate Cancer Ad

4 Years after his death from Prostate Cancer, Comedy Genius Bob Monkhouse returns in an Ad for Prostate research. Good Ad however the implications for future material worries me, from a propaganda perspective. Imagine what we could get others to say and do. However a GREAT cause and a GREAT Comedian God Bless you Bob

    @RapierMedia Using CGI, a body double and a very good impersonator of his voice. I saw this on a documentary they did on the advert, showing you how they did it .

  • jenwasverydrunk:

    @RapierMedia he faked his death.

  • jenwasverydrunk:

  • RapierMedia:

    One of the nicest men ever to have lived. RIP Bob and thanks!

  • fluffyduck1977:

    they used a body double,impersonator and ‘stock footage’

  • EminorFunkyBannana:

    Many men with the disease don’t realise they have it until it spreads and symptoms become apparent. Other men are lucky and the cancer never spreads, they have it for years (sometimes decades) and die of something else, unaware they ever had it. IMO at least yearly prostate screening should be highly publicised for over 50s. So many more lives would be saved. Cancer is a horrible illness.

  • 19189073:

    This was made with the consent of his family. They used an impressionist for the voice and CGI for the facial shots, and an actor for the shots with his back to the camera. So Bob had already died before the idea of the advert came about. I’m sure he would have approved though. if even one man with cancer went to their GP after seeing this advert and saved his own life then it will have been worth it.

  • jimjams91:

    Oh so it is actually his genuine voice? Wow this was a cutting edge response to the cancer imo.

  • jimjams91:

    I think they must have used a really good impersonator…either that or amazing technology.

  • bukster1:

    Good for you Bob. Prostate cancer may have killed him, but he did his best to stop it killing anybody else.

  • KenfromDublin:

    Knowing Bob, there would have been no trickery involved, he knew he was going to succumb to the cancer and made this cautionary ad in advance of his own demise to help warn and save others from the same disease.

    R.I.P. Bob, you were one of the greats and are still so sorely missed,

  • kdeviljay:

    I wonder how they did this. With the audio and visuals. It is so cool, but just how did they do this?

  • WhyDoIBotherAtAll:

    It was Bob, I’m pretty sure. The joke seems like it’s been around forever, and given his age and and rep, I’ll say it’s him, though he may have just used it like any other cheesy joke that’s just out there.

  • TwoCows23:

    Fuck. They should get a Terminator Billy Mays back to hawk more pointless shit.

  • hawksrl:

    @LeeJ2512 lol

  • noun12345:

    Reminds me of Yul Brynner’s anti-smoking advert.
